Musician's Friend offers just about anything and everything a musician might need. Their prices are more or less standard, but they offer sales and deals on a regular basis.
Sweetwater sells some live audio and recording gear that the larger online outfits do not always carry or have in stock. But more importantly, they have exceptional customer service. They'll spend time with you on the phone, and they are knowledgeable and helpful.
The Tube Store If you're a tube amp guy like myself, and you are pretty clueless when it comes to tubes (like myself), these guys will help you out. They took the time to give me some great support and general advice.
NYC Pedalboards When it comes to pedal boards, there's a lot of crap out there for sale. NYC is an exception to this. I own one and it's rock solid. Sensible Design, quality craftsmanship, hand-built and durable... not much else you can ask for in a pedalboard.
The Guitar Handbook is an excellent book to pick up if you're just starting out in the world of guitar playing. I bought mine like 20 years ago and I still have it. My edition is old. I have to imagine it has only gotten better since then.
For more experienced players, The Advancing Guitarist by Mick Goodrick is a book that I could recommend. It stood out for me above most others that I have seen over the years. Note: This book is not for beginners and does require some understanding of formal music theory.
Home Studio Corner If you are a wanna-be home studio producer (like myself) who feels a bit overwhelmed by the current digital jungle... fear not! Joe over at Home Studio Corner will take care of you. He has put together a very informative and helpful web site, packed with information, tips, articles and videos - for both beginning and experienced home studio junkies alike.
Mystic Bowie, aside from being an incredibly gifted and talented performer, also happens to be one of the best friends I have on this planet. We go back a long way, and played many a shows together. When he's not busy touring all over the world with the Tom Tom Club, these days Bowie is splitting his time between Jamaica and the Southern Connecticut / NYC music scenes. If you ever get the chance to see Mystic perform live, do not miss it. Trust me on this one.
